Rule of thumb: Minimum 2 lbs of thrust for every 100 lbs of total loaded boat weight (including fuel, occupants, and gear). Add 20% extra thrust for heavy tidal currents.
Size motor thrust pounds (2 lbs per 100 lbs boat weight) and shaft lengths for heavy chop.
